Hello, All,
Let me know
what you think about this idea. You are on my list because i know you give
a good flying leap and are a do-er. lol. cs
This is re-sent
because it now includes the referenced links below!
The storms
give us a chance to give back to others. I
just talked to the FEMA hotline lady and asked her if she knew whether
the authorities had considered the following option: Our military bases
have been downsized all around the country.
Ft. Ord, CA
is a primary example. Sure,
the surrounding cities have broken it up into do-able chunks and are building
new construction as well as repairing some of the existing structures as
quickly as possible. In the
meantime, however, hundreds of acres with housing with lead paint
We are in a
terrific crisis with more to come as the result of man's willy nilly interventions
in nature that result in mowed down vegetation and destruction of rain
forests. Their presence served
as natural wind breaks that could ward off sea storms and protect the habitats
of human infringers. Now, we are seeing the beginnings of escalating cycles
of bad weather devastations. These
are no natural occurrences, either.
This is our
direct and greedy fault. Anyways,
Mother Nature will get even with her greatest and worst creation, humanity. In
the meantime, perhaps we can exhort the leadership to refurb those vacant
homes on the many abandoned or downsized bases across the land. Start here in Fort Ord. What can we do to help the process? The
following are links to the organizations that the victims must access for
assistance.

If we have
ideas such as using the military bases for temporary quarters for the survivors,
then let's get those ideas passed-along to our Congress-persons and the
President.
Here are some
starting points:
Dear Leadership
person:
Please consider
our suggestions as viable and quick solutions to solve the plight of the
storm survivors now crammed in the sports arenas and elsewhere.
The military
bases sit languishing in idleness with acres of boarded up housing! Locals can void some of the code violations
and provide employment opportunities to many to refurbish these structures
so that every single homeless person gains an entitlement of temporary
shelter managed through the housing authorities and FEMA.
This can be
accomplished immediately. So,
let's roll up our sleeves some more and rebuild this nation from the inside
out by healing some old military housing. Let
this spirit of cooperation and the American "Can Do!" power get
the job done right now. Ok? Otay!
Thank you for
all you do, by the way. Please
let me know that you received this note by making sure the press knows
how we feel about making some home grown solutions become a reality.
Sincerely,
Your Constituency
