AN ENTERTAINMENT CONSULTANCY
HELLO, ALL,
HAS
THIS HAPPENED TO YOU?
SICK
CHICK
I
got soooo sick yesterday, thought it was food poisoning or hepatitis or stomach
flu or something terrible. All
of a sudden, I was having severe cramps and something my constitution has
NEVER suffered with: diarrhea! I am a constipation person; anything upsetting
my world and I lock up. No bowel movements are possible until forced out with
a conscious regimen consisting of 3 healthy and filling squares, an herbal
laxative and copious H2O.
SYMPTOMS
Last
night however, was a whole new frontier of excruciating stomach cramps and
extreme diarrhea that only abated with taking some of my Mother's Imodium.
The hurting was still there, but just subsided enough for me to get some sleep
around 1:30AM.
This
morning I awoke to the same symptoms and don't see how I can cramp or poop
anymore. The Bible says ‘Physician, heal thy self.’ So, I reconstructed yesterday’s
activities and examined what I ate and what the packaging claims.
RECOLLECTIONS
Turns
out that Naquida came to my house yesterday to work on my newly patented hair braiding machine. We took a break and she went to Mal's
Market up the street and brought back some treats to share: a Dennis' Bomber
sandwich and the Frito Lay Sun Chips. The last thing I ate was a bit of Ben
and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey ice cream.
I enjoyed these indulgences and was ready for bed when the painful attacks
began.
WEB
SEARCH
So,
around 9:30AM this morning, I decided to search the web by just typing my symptoms
and, voila! Olestra is probably the culprit in my case. Sources of information
about Olestra are found at:
http://www.naplesnews.com/today/neapolitan/noolestr.htm

MY
CONDITION IS IMPROVING
Yes,
I am somewhat better today, particularly in knowing the source of my problems
was what I put in my mouth: Frito Lay Sun Chips: 30% less fat. The ingredients don't list Olestra but
there are all kinds of clever disguises for deceptive experiments with our nutrition.
VIGILENCE
If
you know of others suffering from such terrible symptoms, you can help them.
Really, I think the only things you can do is provide information and
tell them it will take a while for that mess to leave their system. This is
just the tip of the iceberg with artificial food substitutes. I encourage you
to read about it and put us on alert for other assaults on food.
Bye, for now.
Sincerely
yours,
Charmaigne
Scott

TO
HELP MYSELF FEEL BETTER
I
filled out an Olestra complaint
form and here are my comments: “I never ate these Frito Lay Sun Chips-30%
less fat chips before and the label does not mention olestra. Also, my constitution
is of constipation-NOT diarrhea and cramps!
Really
sick, but glad to find your info and to narrow down the cause.
What
can one do to deal with the symptoms and will this olestra contamination leave
my body completely? Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Charmaigne Scott”
HERE
IS THEIR RESPONSE:
“Dear
Ms. Scott,Thanks
for your report == but those chips do not contain olestra. Your problem must have been caused by
something else.Michael
Jacobson”
mjacobson@cspinet.org
http://www.naplesnews.com/today/neapolitan/noolestr.htm
http://www.cspinet.org/new/200207011.html
THEREFORE,
I
created a contact card for Michael and here are the included reminder notes.
“I
sent his org a form for evaluation of possible Olestra symptoms. In light of his response,
I am looking elsewhere to get to the bottom of my terrible symptoms.
So far, I have found surprising information on the toxicology of pesticides
and their EPA approvals for deceptive labeling along with information on food
poisoning.
MY
DIAGNOSIS
I
conclude that I do not have the symptoms of pesticides but I have a closer
connection with E.coli. More
research and insertions into the document that logs my attempts and letters
to alert my friends is available on my website: http://charmaignescott.com/PerilsofOlestra.htm Bye!”
HERE
IS MY EMAIL RESPONSE TO MR. JACOBSON:
Thank
you for assuring me that the Frito Lay chips
that I ate are not using the contaminant, Olestra. It is important to reduce the number of suspects and you have
given me proof of Olestra’s innocence in this case. I will forward your
response along with my narrowing list of toxicity suspects to my friends and
loved ones. Sincerely,
Charmaigne Scott
NEW
AVENUES OF THOUGHT:
Now,
I think maybe the RAID Flying Insect Killer is the culprit. So, I am researching its side effects,
symptoms of toxicity and government EPA rules about labeling these very dangerous
chemical weapons. Here are some links to help get to the bottom of this painful
toxicity.

THE
SECRET INGREDIENTS IN PESTICIDES: REDUCING THE RISK
This
excellent report from the New York State Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer contains
charts of inert ingredients that are the bulk of toxics in pesticides that are
produced by large, lobbying manufacturers. You will also find examples of deceptive labels as well as
court cases initiated by New York State and others. It seems that the EPA is
not a friend of the public at all!

Some trade names include Chrysron, Crossfire, Pynosect, Raid Flying
Insect Killer, Scourge, Sun-Bugger #4, SPB-1382, Synthrin, Syntox, Vectrin and
Whitmire PT-110.
http://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/canot/ca98-3.htm
This
site informs of a study ordered by the CA State Dept of Pesticide Regulation
under Director James W. Wells. Here is the cut and copied gist:
The pesticide active ingredient cyfluthrin is a non-systemic pyrethroid insecticide registered for use on numerous field, fruit and vegetable crops, including
citrus. In addition, DPR registers pesticide products containing cyfluthrin
for use on lawns and ornamental plants, animals, and around industrial, institutional,
agricultural and household structures.
DPR initiates this reevaluation based on its investigation of a May
1997 outbreak of respiratory irritation reported among orange harvesters exposed
to residues of cyfluthrin in Tulare County and other pesticide illness reports
related to cyfluthrin. DPR maintains a pesticide illness registry, the Pesticide
Illness Surveillance Program (PSIS). From 1990-1995, DPR recorded 108 illness/injury
cases related to cyfluthrin into the PSIS database. Of the 108 cases, 15 were
related to the agricultural use of cyfluthrin. The remaining 93 cases involved
application of the pesticide in and around structures.
ANOTHER
TWIST IN MY QUEST!
Well, so my symptoms do not relate to the pesticide that I used either!
Hmmm. Where do we go from here? My husband cleaned out the fridge and
refused to toss some old frozen meat and made meatloaf out of it. He proudly offered me just one bite. He
lovingly said, “You will just die when you taste this!” I tasted
that stuff and could not agree more. It
did not taste good to me, so that one bite was all I had.
A
BAD TRIP
The way I feel reminds me of an emergency trip I had to take from
CA to Chicago, in the dead of winter in 1974 on the Greyhound. The packed bus stopped at out of the way
kitchens but I had little money to spend on restaurant food. My young, 4-year
old son, Ashanti and I survived on sandwiches and other food I had prepared
for our journey.
Eventually, though, the allure of eating at one of the Mom and Pop
stops got to me and we ordered salad. The mayonnaise dressing was jelly-like
and one taste was enough to prevent us from eating anymore at that place.
For the next 16 hours of the journey, that bus bathroom was over-run
by some very sick passengers. Vomiting, dysentery and painful cramping were
rampant and the stench permeating the enclosed bus environment was awful.
My child and I did not get nearly as sick as everyone else because we
refused to eat anymore of that contaminated food.
I did learn a valuable lesson, too. Just a taste of botulism is enough
to harm you!
FOLLOWING
IS A BIT OF RESEARCH AND INFORMATION ON FOODBORNE ILLNESSES.
http://www.slchealth.org/html/eh/html/fooddis.html
FOODBORNE
DISEASES
This
site contains descriptions of at least 14 bugs that cause various symptoms of
food poisoning. What does one do about possible E-Coli infection? I wonder if
one must exhibit all the symptoms? I
do not have a fever to speak of. Maybe I’ll take my temperature. Anyway,
I am much better today perhaps because the diarrhea and cramping are practically
gone.
WHOLISTIC
MEASURES I AM TAKING TO HEAL MYSELF:
I
asked my husband to bring me some activated charcoal and acidophilus liquid
from the Nutrition Center. I ingested both before falling asleep and again when
I awoke about four hours later. My urine is really dark, reddish: probably the
charcoal. We will see if I need
to add betonite clay to the mix to completely neutralize the presence of any
food born poisoning. Here is info about E.coli:
E.
coli O157:H7
(Diarrhea)
ONSET: 12-72 Hours
FOOD
INVOLVED: Ground beef, water.
SYMPTOMS:
Abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting.
PREVENTION: Cook foods thoroughly; clean hands; use sterile formula
preparation.

NUTRITIONAL
FACTORS-HOLISTIC APPROACHES: HERBS, SUPPLEMENTS, FASTING AND DIETS
I
do not do diets.
However, http://www.mercola.com/diet.htm is a useful site with an approach to health that seems reasonable and prompts me to fast and pray and get rid of some unnecessary behaviors right now. School resumes in two weeks and I must have that MS degree by Spring 2004 in order to do the PhD by 2005. Then, I can relax the regimens of school and explore other passions. That is, provided my health is regained and protected to serve me the next half a century. Hah!
So,
consider reading the great compendium called Planetary Herbology by my friend, Dr. Michael Tierra. He is truly in touch with what we can do to heal ourselves and the planet. I will take his Professional Herbalist Course soon for my certification that includes membership in the American Herbalists Guild! THE
END?
Well, no, yes, maybe, BUT: I gotta invite you to emailme
your relevant information for periodic posting to this site....Yeah, maybe...But
if you got it, we must win the fight and keep that mess contained. Get It?
OK? OK!
Before signing off, let me tell you that my prognosis is excellent
and I am much better today, Sunday August 4, 2004. Guess the research, charcoal
and acidophilus did the trick, huh? Bye, for now. Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Charmaigne Scott
